Well fuck

I busted out of both tourneys within 3 hands. In the 2K I flopped the K high club flush in a raised pot. Soem dumbshit called himself all in with nothing but the Ac. Hit it.

Then in the miniFTOPS, I got in on a riased pot with 88. Flop came 8 Q 6. Opponent bet hard, I shoved, he called and showed QQ for the bigger set.

I think I remember saying something about playing on the weekend..... Ah well, time to get back to what I'm good at; $5 SNG.

  1. It'll be your turn to win the big one soon enough. Thats the beauty of variance.

In the mean time keep grinding what your "good at"

  2. Why would he call with the Ace? I would really like to know if opponents like him have ever made a final table.

No idea why. Mind you, it was a $2 buy-in, so alot of opponents were playing horribly. I believe he was thinking "Look at the pretty pictures! He has to be bluffing and if he's not and I catch my stack will be bigg!!" Or something like that. I felt I was playing fairly solid, showing down good hands, laying down when needed, and at that point, never bluffing against the majority of the loose calling types at my table. Unfortunatly I have a feeling that he was not thinking about or paying attention to anything but his own hand, at least that is what I noted him as.
More than 4K players, and we were nearing the bubble which was 540 paid, and the tourney was only running just under 3 hours at that point. I watched that guy for a bit longer though. He had over double the average stack through the bubble, but busted in 520th. He limp/called a raise from the CO, flop came 779, he donk bet minimum, got raised, called. Turn was J, he shoved and was called by KK. This time he missed his miracle river.
So short answer is no, these players usually don't even come close to the FT. I looked him up afterwards, down a little over $1500 over MTT at Stars. Little consolation though.

Sammy J: Thanks for the encouragement. I know my time will come eventually. Set over set is just a cooler, and though it happens, I'm not broken up about it. As I build my 'roll, I'll be playing in more of these bigger tourneys. In time though.
